Town of Ontario, Comprehensive Plan

Town of Ontario, New York – Town Supervisor Frank Robusto is pleased to announce the kickoff of the Town of Ontario’s update to the Town’s 2006 Comprehensive Plan.  The Town Board has launched this effort in response to feedback from Town residents and key stakeholders, who suggested the evaluation of opportunities related to land use and other key elements of Town life.  “Preserving the Town’s natural assets, while promoting smart growth practices to the potential critical developable areas is of utmost importance,” said Supervisor Frank Robusto”. 
 
When completed, the Plan will establish a long-term vision, a set of goals, and new strategies and actions that can be implemented over time to ensure that Ontario remains a quality community that everyone can be proud of.    The Plan will address a wide variety of topics including infrastructure and economic development, smart growth and sustainability, recreation and open space, environmental conservation, housing and renewable energy resources.  
 
 The Comprehensive Plan is the Town’s blueprint for future policy changes and reflects the community’s collective vision and will provide direction for future development of the community.  “Residents who live in Ontario, embrace the cohesive charm and collective engagement, “said Frank Robusto.
 
Town officials, residents and the development community will utilize the Comprehensive Plan as a guide as they make decisions about development of the Town.  The updated Comprehensive Plan will replace the current Comprehensive Plan, completed in 2006, and will provide create strategies to leverage the latest land development and socio-economic trends toward a unified community vision.  The plan will leverage the vision to establish goals and set policies to enhance the overall quality of life for the community.  
 
As part of the planning process, the steering committee will be launching an interactive Comprehensive Plan webpage that will provide detailed information on the planning process and will afford the community the opportunity to voice their thoughts and opinions through a detailed survey.  The planning process is underway, and is expected run through the spring of 2021.  The Town Board hopes that all residents, businesses, and landowners in Ontario will participate in the planning process to help shape the future of the community and make it better than ever.
